Luminous layers
One-of-a-Kind Resin Art, Handmade in Calgary!
Art doesn’t have to live in a gallery. It can be the table you gather around , the memorial that keeps someone close, or the handcrafted piece you see every morning.
Art is more than something beautiful
At Luminous Layers, we believe art adds more than colour and personality to a space - it can enrich our everyday lives in meaningful ways!
Research published in 2026 by university College London researchers found that people wo engaged more frequently in arts and cultural activates showed biological-aging patterns associated with a slower pace of aging on several epigenetic measures.. The study analyzed data from 3,556 adults in the United Kingdom and found effect sizes on those measures that were comparable with physical activity.
The arts can take many forms: creating, crafting, reading, listening to music, visiting a gallery or museum, attending cultural events, or simply making art a part of everyday life.
In the UCL report, weekly arts engagement was associated with a 4% slower pace of aging on the Dunedin PACE measure compared with rarely engaging in the arts. (This is an association, not proof that arts participation causes slower aging.)
Luminous layers resin tables
Every table I make is built by hand, one at a time, in my Calgary workshop. No two pieces are ever exactly alike. Whether it’s an ocean scene, a live-edge river table, a table created from reclaimed resin artwork, or a completely custom commission, each piece is designed to be a functional work of art.
I use premium epoxy resin, carefully selected wood and materials, and countless hours of shaping, pouring, sanding, and polishing to create a finish that’s built to last. Every layer is poured with purpose, giving the table depth, movement, and character that can’t be duplicated.
Some tables begin with natural hardwood, while others are created using resin and crafted pieces. Rather than letting beautiful pieces go to waste, I give them a second life by incorporating them into entirely new works of art. These reclaimed tables are just as unique and often tell an even richer story.
If you’re looking for something personal, I also create custom tables. Together we can choose the size, shape, colors, wood, resin effects, and overall design to create a piece made specifically for your home or business. No matter the style, every custom table is one of a kind.
Every Luminous Layers table is personally signed and dated by me and includes a Certificate of Authenticity COA. The certificate confirms the table’s authenticity, records its creation date, and identifies it as an original handcrafted piece.
These aren’t factory-made furniture pieces. They’re original works of functional art, built to be enjoyed every day and made to last for generations
